Residential Garbage & Recycling
The Village of Grantsburg contracts with Waste Management of Cambridge, MN for residential garbage and recycling pickup for Village of Grantsburg residents only. This is a mandatory service in the Village. Garbage is picked up every Wednesday. Recycling is picked up every other Wednesday, please see the calendar above for specific dates. Please make sure your garbage and recycling containers are placed at the curb before 6:30 a.m.
Waste Management recognizes the following holidays: Independence Day, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day. If the holiday falls on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday the garbage pickup for that week will fall one day later. Thanksgiving Day will not affect our residential customers.
The following garbage and recycling container sizes are available (under 10 units),
Rates include a rate increase that is effective October 1, 2022:
32 gallon cart $17.65/month per unit
32 gallon cart/senior citizen $15.35/month per unit
64 gallon cart $19.95/month per unit
96 gallon cart $22.25/month per unit

Recycling Center
The recycling center located at 401 N. Gary Street is operated by the Recycling Control Commission. Their hours are Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - Noon (May - September), and 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (October - April). Please call 715-635-2197 for more information.

Leaves & Brush Site
The brush site is currently open Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. You must be a Village of Grantsburg resident to use the site. No commercial dumping is allowed. A key to gain entry is not required at this time. You may also gain access on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - Noon (May - September) and 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (October - April) while the recycling center is open. Please empty leaves from garbage bags. Please report any illegal dumping of garbage at this site to the Grantsburg Police Department at 715-463-2405. If illegal dumping of garbage becomes a problem, the brush site will only be open during staffed hours on Saturday. We appreciate your help!
