DRINKING WATER UPDATE 9/25/2024
Well #3 continues to be below the EPA limit of 300ug/l. This is our main well, the other two are used minimally only to ensure they are in working order. This means that most of the water throughout the distribution system comes from Well #3. The Public Works Crew checks manganese levels three times each week in different areas of the Village. All those results continue to be under the 300ug/l limit. The Village will continue to be required by the DNR to issue these ‘Drinking Water Warnings’ as long as Well #1 and Well #2 have manganese levels above the EPA limit. The Village has not yet received a final report from the pilot tests for treatment options on Well #1 and #2. Once received, those details will be shared at monthly board meetings and included in these quarterly notices. The fill station is accessible Monday through Friday 8-4:30 via the main Village Office door. Water test kits are available at the Village Office or Village Shop. These kits are sent to Commercial Testing Labs and for $14 can test the levels of manganese in your drinking water. |
NOTICE of MUNICIPAL REVALUATION in 2025
As required by state law, the Village of Grantsburg will be undergoing a municipal -wide exterior revaluation of all taxable property under Wisconsin Statutes 70.05. The last time Grantsburg performed a revaluation was 21 years ago in 2003. To ensure that an accurate revaluation is performed, it will be necessary for the assessment staff to conduct an on-site exterior review of all homes and commercial buildings within the village limits. Assessment staff will begin inspections this fall and conclude them in mid to late summer of 2025. Each assessor will carry a letter of identification from the village and a name badge identifying them; their vehicle will also have an identifying tag. If you have concerns about the person at your door, please call the Village Office at 715-463-2405
Bowmar Appraisal, Inc., a private assessment firm from Eau Claire, WI, has been retained by the Village of Grantsburg to complete the revaluation for the 2025 tax year. The revaluation will establish new assessed values in an equitable fashion for all properties in the village at 100% of market value. The new assessments will be completed in the fall of 2025 and all property owners will receive a written notice of assessment at that time. You will then have an opportunity to discuss the assessed values with Bowmar Appraisal staff members at the Open Book session. After the Open Book session, the Board of Review will conduct hearings to evaluate evidence concerning any final challenges to the assessed values. Our goal is to conduct an accurate and transparent revaluation. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in the revaluation process and ask that you direct any questions you may have concerning the revaluation to Bowmar Appraisal, Inc. at 715-835-1141 Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
